In 1891, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) writes to Lawrence Talbot (Benicio del Toro) to tell him that his brother, Ben, has disappeared. Plot : One day when John was tidying up the barn, he accidentally found a walled hidden room behind the tools rack. In there he found this scary and hideous looking scarecrow wrapped in a sack. The minute his son Michael saw it, he begged his father to get rid of it as soon as possible but he didn't. Chapman the local debt collector tried to persuade John to sell the farm, but refused.
So appears Jude their neighbor who is working in a tobacco farm, his family used to own lots of land in the area until the bank came. He suggested that John should put the scarecrow in the field to get rid of the crows, so he did. Eversince John put that scarecrow up in the fields his luck changed, things are getting better. All the crows which invested his farm suddenly died, the irrigation system that has been broken suddenly working again, but it doesn't stop there. All the people who seems to get in John's way mysteriously met misfortune in gruesome ways.
His family starting to think that he's gone crazy and the one who responsible of all the dead people, until they witnessed the horror with their own eyes, when the scarecrow itself tried to take their lives for being obstacles.
